Delta-8-tetrahydrocannabinol, sometimes known as Delta-8 THC or just Delta-8, is a cannabinoid present in trace concentrations in the cannabis plant. It is physically close to the more well-known Delta-9 THC (the principal psychoactive ingredient in cannabis), but differs in chemical structure and effects.

Delta-8 and Delta-9 THC have comparable chemical structures and interact with the endocannabinoid system via binding to CB1 receptors in the brain and nervous system. This combination causes the psychotropic effects.

Delta-8 THC is found naturally in extremely tiny levels in cannabis plants. It is frequently created by the decomposition of Delta-9 THC or extracted from hemp-derived CBD (cannabidiol) via a chemical conversion procedure.

Individual reactions to Delta-8 THC, like those to any other psychoactive chemical, vary. Some users may have adverse effects such as dry mouth, red eyes, elevated heart rate, or changes in cognitive function. It is critical to begin with a modest dose and be careful of individual tolerance.
